“I joined the Circle U Ambassadors program because I really liked attending one of their events. It was a Sustainable Changemakers program (open each year to master and PhD level students) and it allowed me to get hands-on experience working in an interdisciplinary team on a sustainable start-up idea. From biology to psychology to linguistics, we all teamed up to develop a new set of skills, learn about business models to draft a start-up from scratch. It was a unique event, with a grand finale at Louvain la Neuve University in Belgium where we all met up to present our work and facilitate intercultural exchange.” – Olena

“As part of a Circle U. internship at Aarhus University, I not only had the opportunity to participate directly in Circle U. activities and gain an internal insight, but I also discovered an enthusiasm for Circle U. as a student. Through Circle U. I was able to get to know people from different countries and universities and, above all, participate in a variety of programs and collaborations that go far beyond the boundaries of local universities. I particularly appreciate the international atmosphere and the mobility programs adapted to different groups of people.” – Zoe

From Sydney to Vienna – my exchange experience

Nearly six months ago, I was packing my bags in Sydney, Australia, and preparing myself for a thirty-hour solo journey to the other side of the world. While I was incredibly excited to start my exchange experience, Australia already felt a world away before I had even boarded my plane. At my home institute, Macquarie … Continued

  1. Really enjoyed reading this! It’s refreshing to see such an honest take on what an exchange semester is actually like — not just the travel highlights, but also the cultural shocks and the little things that take time to get used to.

Great list! It’s such a helpful reminder that summer break doesn’t have to be just about switching off (though that’s important too!). I especially liked the tips on planning a semester abroad and organizing your computer—definitely things I tend to put off. For anyone looking to get their digital tools in order before the next semester, I’ve found https://flashtoolss.com super useful for managing mobile devices and keeping things running smoothly. Thanks again for the inspiration—adding a few of these to my to-do list this week!
